Academics at St. Mary's Catholic School
St.
Mary’s School is a Catholic elementary school, teaching grades K-8, and
has been serving the Boise-area community since 1949. Chief
among
our core values is a commitment to ingrain in our students the roots of
Catholic values, including: faith, respect, honesty, integrity,
personal responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning and
achievement.
St Mary’s has an outstanding record of
fostering academic excellence, whole-person development, and community
involvement by our students. Our students routinely score in
the
95th-99th percentiles of standardized tests in reading and mathematics.
We are a primary source of students for Bishop Kelly High School, and a large proportion of our students advance to college and post-graduate education, as well as to highly respected careers in the arts, humanities, science, business, teaching, and public service. By such means as active liaison with high school and university educators, we actively instill in our students the desire to continue education into and past the secondary level.
Letter from a St. Mary's Parent
Hi,
I don't want to take up too much of your time but we just put the girls to bed a couple hours ago and we've been going over their work sheets from the week. First of all I want to say that after the first week of school we had just been asking our girls about friends and social things, not even considering the fact that they had started learning yet. When our daughter brought home her backpack on Friday we saw the work she had done during the week........ I'm not embarrassed to say that I literally had tears in my eyes. We had no idea how amazing and dedicated your teachers are to pushing and teaching our children. The feeling of gratefulness and blessing that we feel is overwhelming! To think now, that if not for the John Williams Jackson Foundation, our girls would still be stuck in idle at their old school frightens and as crazy as it sounds leaves us with a little almost nauseous feeling. We went through our other daughters work from this week tonight and I called my mom to come see what she had done! Last year all she did was color! Serious.
I could blab on and on forever but I hope you get the basic point I'm making. I just wanted to take a minute and thank the Foundation for the scholarship. I realize that probably almost every parent thinks that their children are special and deserve the best. First of all I want to say that I didn't realize that the "best" was this good. Now that we know we never want to go back. We will do whatever we can, or whatever you need, or whatever it takes to keep our children on the right path. Also, our girls will work hard and not take this for granted, guaranteed. Second I would like to reiterate how impressed we are with both the kindergarten and 1st grade teachers. They care about moving our kids forward. The greatest feeling in the world for a parent is being able to send your kids away to people who we are confident want to build them into something great. For this and everything we want to say thank you.
