Stanford Gifted-Child Program

In an ongoing effort to improve on the school’s foundation of Academic Excellence in a Catholic Community, St. Mary’s School has formed a strategic partnership with Stanford University to bring the Stanford Education Program for Gifted Youth (EPGY) to the Boise valley.

EPGY for Gifted and Talented Students Research shows that online programs such as EPGY fill a critical need for gifted and talented youth, providing access to advanced courses for students who desire challenging courses. Moreover, several studies of the performance trajectories for students in a variety of EPGY courses have demonstrated that EPGY is a valuable resource because it allows students to accelerate their academic pursuits through an independently driven program.

Our Stanford EPGY program is a zero-hour class offered Tuesdays and Thursdays. Courses covered are Math, Language, Arts and Writing for Kindergarten through 7th grade.

Benefits:

  • Students remain in their normal school environment
  • Students receive individualized instruction which accommodates individual differences in student learning
  • Students progress at their own pace and to accelerate their education.

Stanford EPGY constantly evaluates new technologies and revise courses regularly based student-performance data. This program strives to deepen and improve the nature of computer-based distance learning instruction.
