After School Activites for 5th-8th

Outside of the School day other organized sports are offered for students.  Participating in team sports can help encourage children to develop an active lifestyle as well as helping to develop important social skills such as learning how to work as a team.
 
5th-6th Grade Basketball:  This is a non-competitive season focusing on learning the rules and fundamental basics of basketball.  The Girl's season runs from October through November; Boy's play January through February.  Practices are held at school on weekdays.  Coached by a parent volunteers, all students of all skill levels and abilities are encouraged to participate.  Games are played at St. Mary's or at a surrounding area school once or twice a week.
 
Tournaments:
 
Boise School District- This tournament takes place after the season of 5th 6th school basketball.  It is competitive  single elimination. It is played at Boise area schools on week nights.
 
Pocatello Basketball Tournament- The Catholic Crusader Invitational Basketball Tournament for 5th and 6th grade girls and boys is held annually in Pocatello, Id. in late March at Idaho State University.  Many Catholic teams throughout Idaho and Utah participate in this enjoyable, competitive basketball tournament.
 
Hallissey Basketball Tournament- 7th and 8th grade girls and boys compete in this exciting state-wide tournament held in Boise annually. It usually falls during Presidents Day Weekend.  Games are played at Bishop Kelly, St. Joes and other local schools.  Championship games are at Bishop Kelly High School.
 
6th-8th TVCS Sports:

Students in grades six through eight participate in the Treasure Valley Catholic Schools (TVCS) cooperative program, which forms teams from all the Catholic schools in the Treasure Valley to participate in the Intervalley League Junior High Conference. Sports offered include volleyball, cross-country, football, wrestling, basketball, tennis, and track and field.

Sixth graders may participate in TVCS cross country, wrestling, tennis, track and quiz bowl; all TVCS sports are open to seventh and eighth graders.
