Hola! Mi nombre es Luz Camarena. I was born and raised in Mexico City, and I am the Spanish teacher in KG and 1st grade.
Teaching is one of my passions, and because of that I have been afforded valuable experiences in many different areas and with children of varying ages. I am an advocate for a holistic education and believe that it is imperative for children in our community to learn Spanish— not only to develop their brains (which is great and enough reason to be bilingual)— but also to understand and embrace the diversity that exists in our community. I have a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Fine Arts (BSU). I started working at St. Mary’s in 2014, and every day I come home with several good stories to share about my students. We teachers are truly lucky to have the opportunity to participate in the education of these amazing children.
