Dear St. Mary’s Families,
Happy Easter – the 50 day celebration of the Resurrection continues until Pentecost Sunday, May 24th.
When Easter comes, don’t rush past it.
Let Easter stretch out. Let it breathe. Let it change you.
Because the joy of the Resurrection isn’t meant to last one day –
It’s meant to shape your whole life
From: Catholic World Mission
The ability of the school and families to work cooperatively towards a common goal enhances the student learning academically, spiritually, and socially.
OUR MISSION:
St. Mary’s School is to provide a Catholic environment that instills academic excellence while preparing the whole child for life-long personal and spiritual growth, empowering them to become global citizens.
MAP Testing – April 20th through April 30th
Twice a year St. Mary’s students in grade 1st through 8th participate in Measure of Academic Performance (MAP) testing. They will complete tests in Reading, Language Usage, and Mathematics between April 20 and April 30.
We encourage students to get a good night sleep, eat a solid breakfast, and come to school on time with a positive attitude. This is good advice for every day, but we ask for specific attention during this testing window.
Many students struggle with test anxiety. We work to create a safe and positive environment for students to feel comfortable, but challenged, and have confidence in their knowledge and ability.
MAP tests are a progressive testing system that measures the students by growth and achievement. While it may seem as though we are putting a tremendous emphasis on these tests, they are simply another data point to help understand where our students are and how best to help them realize their potential.

Spring Music Program
- When: Tuesday, May 5th at 6:00pm. Students should arrive between 5:40 and 5:45 and go to their classrooms (Bands and Choir should meet in the church). THE SCHOOL/CHURCH WILL NOT BE OPEN UNTIL 5:40, so please plan accordingly. The program is expected to last about one hour.
- Where: St. Mary’s Church (Free!)
- Who: The program will feature students in 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade, as well as our Bands, Choir, and Mexican Dance group.
- What (to wear): Students should wear nice clothes – think “going to church with Grandma on Easter.” Please help students not to wear anything that might become a distraction to others or prove challenging for them to move around in. When in doubt, they are more than welcome to wear their Mass Dress uniform. Some of the 6th graders will have specific outfits to wear, I will update you on that soon.
- Why: We do this each year to show off the hard work of our students in the performing arts, gather as a community, and celebrate that Music is a valued and integral part of their education.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mr. Peters, and he will try to get back to you quickly – mpeters@bk.org.
