Middle school is a time when students start to spread their wings. Their unique interests and abilities start to manifest and they need a unique curriculum to match these changes. Students start to change classrooms for different subjects and begin learning how to work with a variety of teachers in preparation for high school. They also start to take on more responsibility and learn how to organize their day. Certain classes, like math, are offered in levels to accommodate the wide variety of academic needs that arise during these years.

St. Mary’s middle school program is proud to be:

  • Fully accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA)
  • Participating in the Measure of Academic Performance (MAP) testing fall and spring
  • Meeting or exceeding the State of Idaho curriculum guidelines for each grade level

The curriculum for each subject matter is reviewed and revised on a rotational basis in conjunction with the WCEA accreditation requirements. In addition, the core Catholic values we hold high at St. Mary’s school are embedded in each curricular area.

In addition to this academic core, religious education is taught daily in every grade. The religious program, incorporating both coursework and everyday life experiences, prompts discussion and offers opportunities for faith-based responses. The curriculum includes an expression of core Christian values, moral decision-making, consideration of world and local events involving Catholic leadership, and preparation of student-focused liturgical celebrations.
